Prom Update!

The time is near!! Are you guys excited??

IT'S PROM SEASONN

Your girl loves prom. I love talking about it, even thinking about it is almost a little too exciting. It can be stressful to get everything together, especially if this is your first formal to go to. And if you're like me, your date doesn't know much about the event either. There aren't many blogs that discuss the topic (which is crazyyy) so I'm here to help! If I missed anything or you have questions, shoot me a comment and I'll get back to you asap.
This post will be more of a visual since the last one about prom was mostly me boring you with all my words. I'm more of a visual person, so I can show you better than I can tell you!

Couples Poses

If you have a special someone you are going to prom with, it's pretty important to capture the moment! Picking a location can be kind of tricky, but really in location will work, because you and your date will be the focal point of the shot anyway! Hope some of these examples help you out :)

Kissing Pictures
We all know the couples kiss pic is pretty cliche, but still are a beautiful moment to capture, it's not corny, if you want the picture don't be afraid to take it!

This is precious because they are not facing the camera, simple touches like simultaneously holding hands are special and can escalate the beauty of the moment.

This is just so cute because of the girls expression!

If you're more on the modest side like myself, cute pictures like the ones above come off as innocent and unplanned.

Off Guard Shots
Even though some off guard shots don't always work out, some people are good at staging them. If not, don't worry, just take as many as possible and you're sure to get one that you'll love!

This is such a beautiful captured moment, you can tell they were posing for a simple "say cheese" photo, but got this nice off guard shot by something funny he probably said!

I love this because how lovingly he looks at her! If the back of your dress has a stunning surprise, this will definitely be a must-have photo. The second picture of the bak of her dress is also a good pose to show off that dress!

The picture says it all, it's so fun and innocent and I love it!

Enough said ;)

Princess Photo

This is a beautiful idea, not only does it intensify the beauty of the dress, it's that fairy tale shot that every girl should want!

Simple and Beautiful
If staged couples photos aren't your thing, don't stress! Just keep it simple and you'll still get some beautiful shots!

Just a straight on shot smiling at the camera with the couple as the focal point can be just as impactful!

This is cuteee :)

In Texas, a lot of people are into truck photos! I'm not that country and neither is my date, but if you are than this would be a cute southern photo to take :)

Hair Styles

Here are some hair ideas for prom, most of them are curly only because I think curls are just so much more romantic and formal. Updos are generally more formal, but personally, I like down styles better mostly because of all the volume that is possible!

Curly do's

I love curly hair, not even just for prom it's so cute and girly.

Updos

This is a formal undo that is cute, especially because of all the volume.
Love this look, all it takes is super tight curls and a french braid!

Although I prefer curly hair for special occasions, this would be an easy look to do that's cute too!

Braided/Twisted Styles
Saving the best for last!! I really love french braiding, dutch braiding and twists, it's an easy way to play up a simple look. There are thousands upon thousands of YouTube videos over braiding, once you get in the hang of it it'll become second nature!

All this look is is a braided headband, super easy and cute! If your hair isn't long enough to wrap a whole braid around, try doing one braid on the left, and the right and bobypin it down!

This is so beautiful, just a loose braid on both sides of the head and boby-pinning them together.

Similar look as the previous one, only now it is a french braid!

This is a waterfall twist, this could be done as a waterfall braid as well!

If you have long hair, doing a loose french braid or a mermaid braid would be beautiful! Just use a lot of hair spray to keep everything uniformed.

This is an easy, simple, yet very beautiful style for a formal!

Prom Dresses

Personally, I don't think it's a good idea to fall in love with a dress online. Mainly because you may order it and it's not everything you imagined. Chances are, you don't look identical to the size 0 model wearing your dream dress. And there's something really special about going dress shopping and experiencing trying on all the dresses you want. But if you are going to order a dress offline, do as much research as possible, especially if you're gonna blow all your money on the dress! Read customer reviews on other sites, and search the item # and designer of the dress to see if you can get better deals!

Also, if you try on a dress in the store but it's over budget, searching the designer with the description of the dress can offer possibility of finding it for a cheaper price. I had the experience of trying a Sherri Hill dress on in a store, the manager told me that she couldn't take anything off the retail price, when I checked on the Sherri Hill website this woman was going to sell me a dress 200 dollars more than the actual designer!!! Please do your research, even in the store if you can to let your consultant know you know your stuff and you won't let them trick you!!

Hope I shined some light:) here are some reference photos! The best way to think when searching for dresses online is to just use pictures as a reference for when you actually go shopping so you can tell the consultant what style you're looking for. For example, I went in to every store saying I want strapless, but hateee halter tops.

Dress shapes
(Up to down left column) Strapless, V-neck, high collar (halter), one shoulder

Dresses with Slits/ High Low

Dresses with high slits are greatttt for tall people. They're not easy to come by, but very flattering on tall people.
Not only is the color on this stunning, but I love the slit. If your parents aren't in to something so sexy, it wouldn't take much to just stitch up the slit just a little!
Agghh if only I could find this dress! It's such a lovely color and again, the slit would be great for those girls with height. The high waisted belt slims your waste and can make your figure appear more shapely while also hiding any tummy budge :)
High low dresses are also good for taller people! This dress comes in other colors as well:

Strapless

Although strapless is a pretty cliche style dress, I think they look good on most people.

For example as using references; I found this red dress online and found something similar to it at a local prom dress shop. Although I didn't choose it, it was one of the top contenders. Showing the consultant a reference helps them get a better sense of what you're looking for.

This dress is a nice simple but sexy dress. But beware, when buying something so figure flattering like this, there's no wiggle room for good food! I don't think any girl should have to loose weight for prom, but if it's just that amazing of a dress you'll be looking good.

Unfortunately, I couldn't find the first dress anywhere else, or anything similar… I'm sure it was very expensive though judging by the organza and heavy use of crystals. I just love glitzy dresses like these that are attention grabbers!

Dresses with Sleeves

Isn't the back on this beautiful?

There's a lace underlay that is very classy and beautiful, this would be a great dress for prom!

If you have any questions leave a comment and thanks for stopping by.
Hope I helped someone and have a lovely prom :) xo

Makeup Tips

Hello lovelies! Hope you all are having a good day.

Makeup Reference Photos

"There are no ugly women in the world, only lazy ones."

Makeup is something that almost every girl has tried, love it or hate it, we all can admit that it can

transform an appearance and maybe even a girl's confidence. Now I personally love makeup, but I do

understand that it's very time consuming and if you're a perfection like me, one eye can't be different

than the other. I realize also that a lot of people aren't so into art, (which I do see makeup as a form of

art and expression) which can make makeup an even more tedious task. But practice makes perfect, and

I can't stress enough about the millions upon millions of makeup tutorials available.

What is a little more difficult is finding tutorials or inspiration for dark skin or African American

women. All the intricate eye makeup and lip colors are made for a certain type of shade, which not

every one can pull off. So I will be posting makeup combinations for ebony skin tones as well.

Prom is coming up, so I've been searching the depths of the web trying to find an interesting, yet

classy makeup look, hope I can help someone!

Now we all know I have a Pinterest board for everything, so please check it out and follow my blog! Paint Your Face!

I actually bought this lip stain, the other day at

my local drugstore, the colors are very solid so make sure the shade is complementing to your skin tone.

Other than that, I love the the long lasting color, and there are many color choices.

Although smokey eyes are fabulous and

mysterious, they make the eye appear small, using white liner or a shadow like in the above photo is a

great way to draw attention to the eyes and make them look bigger.

I love love love this color, it is also an

upcoming trend according to magazines. Although I don't see much of an every day use in this makeup,

it is really a beautiful color for all skin tones. It is a nice pop of color for those with lighter skin tones,

and blends will for darker skin tones. This color may not be so suitable for those with a pinkish skin

hue, due to the color it may make the skin appear more red.

I love winged eye shadow, it is a nice way to

play up your eye makeup. There are plenty of different wing patterns to suit your eye shape, which I

will post a picture of later. One look that I have come to love is a bold eye with a neutral shade on the

lips, it comes off less harsh and gives a soft look that is more easy to pull off.

This lip color is great for if you are a darker skin tone

trying to pull off a brighter color. I do this technique all the time: outline the darker color around the

lips, and fill the brighter on your lips. On the top lip it also looks good to use the darker color only.

This color on the eyes is soooo perfect, I tried

it but instead of using a bronzer, to blend it more with my skin tone I used my foundation so the

eyeshadow would't look tacky on me.

This glitter eye shadow is definitely on trend right

now. I haven't tried it personally, but I do know that try and apply the glitter ONLY on the small of

your eyelid. Using too much will not give the same glamorous affect. Shade above the glitter in a

similar color as a gradual transition to your skin so the colors aren't too bold.

The silver is a nice touch, but what I want you

guys to see is how the eyeliner extends in the crease of the eyelid. This is a technique that I HIGHLY

recommend if you have smaller. Everytime I do my makeup I do this for my eyelid, because it makes

the eyes appear bigger. Even using this technique without eyeshadow works beautifully.

Dark Skin Tones

This is a good look for an ebony tone, any light

neutral shade on the eyelids will blend well with the skin.

Although this is a more subtle color for

makeup, and I'm more so about go big or go home. This is a quick look to do in the morning.

Kelly Rowland is already a perfect being. She is a great

example of how to wear a deep red lipstick with subtle eye makeup.

This is a greattt look for prom. If my dress

didn't have silver in it this would most definitely be a contender makeup look. The gold goes great with

dark skin tones.

Any purples look good for eye shadow on

African Americans, purple is just a good choice for a flattering makeup.

In closing, here are some of the different

eyeliner wing drawings. Don't be afraid to try something new, you would be surprised on what you can

pull off!

Hope I helped, and please follow my blog! I post a new blog everyday, and I hope you have a lovely day xo.
